About the album

This is composer Segun Akinola’s soundtrack to the film THE LAST TREE, a British drama directed by Shola Amoo and starring Sam Adewunmi, Gbemisola Ikumelo and Denise Black.

The film follows the story of Femi, a British-Nigerian boy who moves from foster care in rural england to inner city London to live with his mum. He struggles with the unfamiliar culture and values of his new environment, and teenage Femi has to figure out which path to adulthood he wants to take, and what it means to be a young black man in London.

Segun’s music featues uplifting orchestral elements which compliment darker atmospheric tones, creating a perfect contrast for the different environments shown in the film.
